Love letters from a "softball mom"

In preparation for my forthcoming departure from the newspaper, I started going through old emails that have accumulated during my three years on the job, deciding what I should keep as contacts for the next person and what I should toss. In the process, I ran across this email I received some years ago from a "concerned parent." It's a pretty good example of many Rhea Countians outlook on life..."My unhappiness in life is due to being screwed by someone else." It's a pretty funny email, though at the time I received it I didn't quite know how to take it. I may just have to end up leaving the email for the person that takes my job, for a laugh if for nothing else. This type of person I affectionately refer to as a "softball mom."

Subject: about the game?

Mr. Williams, I'm a parent of 1 the players of the football team. I'm really disappointed that nothing was mentioned about what a great job my son did in last Friday's game! Even though many other's did great to, mine was the 1 who took the big hit , oh, yeah and got up kept on gettin it the rest of the game. Not to mention the news had him on t.v. Wow !!! Luckily he didn't get hurt thank goodness. He has does a fantastic job all season and not one time has he been given the credit a Sophomore doing as well he has . The reason I'm writing to you is that I haven't spoke to the coach yet , because I don't want his playing time to lost if you know what I mean? But I will be talking to him to about it along with many other issues. But that's besides the point. All I want is fairness among the boys and names being mentioned when they make good plays , remember it's not just 1 or 2 boy's that win the game it's the team! Thanks and hope you understa! nd my feelings and concern. Concerned Parent & mom
