Thanksgiving is still 29 days away, but a recent realization makes me figure it's not too early to begin counting blessings. If you look to the left in my profile thing you'll notice "memories" as an interest of mine. Looking back recently over some photos, I was struck by the number of friends the Lord has blessed me with over the years, especially "guy friends" (notice I didn't say "male friends" or "boy friends"). And not just token guy friends that will grunt, scratch and watch football with me but guys who will get in my face and challenge me. So here's a couple of pieces of nostalgia from yesteryear and the not-so-distant past that I've been looking for an excuse to post. From the archives: circa May 1999, Bryan College graduation
I've been thinking of Matty Snead lately and wondering what he and his wife Michelle are up to in China while studying Mandarin and living with the people. So endulge me. They arrived in late August and won't return to the states until July before returning again in August. For those of you who don't know, they also met in China five years ago, a few months after this photo was taken. Please pray for them if you think about it.
From January 2004: Bennie U., I thought you'd like this pic of the Obsessive Six. The six of us slept within 50 feet of each other during 2000-01 and then, and to this day, seem to talk to each other only in inside jokes and catch phrases from that time. Hence, the "obsessive" title. We reunited at Justin Brackett's house last January—F.B. even flew up and inspired my soon-to-be children's book "F.B.'s Big Flight." As you can tell by the picture, he still has a hard time acting his age. I can't remember what he was being goofy about at the time. Clockwise: Sneadles, Sam "the Jet" Kostreva, myself, Brother Brackett, Benjamin Eugene and F.B.
